Itinerary

Day 1

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Depart Arusha after breakfast and drive approximately two hours to Tarangire National Park, arriving by mid-morning. The afternoon is dedicated to a game drive through the park's baobab-dotted landscapes, where enormous herds of elephants gather along the Tarangire River. Keep your eyes peeled for gerenuk, fringe-eared oryx, and the rare Ash's stork. As the sun begins to set, watch the sky turn golden over the river valley before heading to your campsite for dinner under the stars. Fall asleep to the sounds of the African bush at your comfortable campsite.

Day 2

Tarangire to Lake Manyara

Rise early for a morning game drive in Tarangire, when predators are most active and the light is magical for photography. Look for lions lounging in sausage trees and leopards draped along acacia branches. After a bush breakfast, transfer south to Lake Manyara National Park, a jewel set beneath the Great Rift Valley escarpment. The afternoon game drive reveals the park's diverse habitats from groundwater forests to open grasslands and the soda lake itself. Spot the famous tree-climbing lions, huge flocks of flamingos, and hippos basking in the shallows. Camp near the lake and enjoy a warm dinner after your first full day on safari.

Day 3

Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park

Enjoy a final morning game drive in Lake Manyara, searching for elephants, giraffes, and the park's famous troops of baboons. After brunch, embark on a scenic transfer through the Ngorongoro Highlands, passing Maasai bomas and rolling green hills. The drive takes you to the crater rim and then down onto the vast Serengeti plains, arriving in time for your first afternoon game drive. The Serengeti's endless grasslands stretch to the horizon, dotted with kopjes where lions survey their kingdom. Watch a spectacular sunset paint the plains in amber and gold before returning to camp for a hearty dinner.

Day 4

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Wake before dawn for a pre-dawn game drive across the Serengeti plains, when the morning mist lifts to reveal predators on the hunt. Seek out lion prides, cheetahs scanning the grasslands, and perhaps a leopard near a kopje. Return to camp for a full breakfast before beginning the scenic drive to the Ngorongoro Crater rim. The route passes through the Serengeti's western corridor, where crocodiles bask along the Grumeti River. Arrive at the crater rim in the late afternoon for stunning views into the world's largest intact volcanic caldera. Enjoy dinner at the campsite with the crater's rim towering above you.

Day 5

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

Descend 600 metres into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive in one of the most wildlife-rich places on Earth. The crater floor is home to over 25,000 animals including the endangered black rhino, giant tusker elephants, and massive buffalo herds. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the scenic Hippo Pool, where hippos grunt and wallow just metres away. Scan the crater walls for flamingos and pelicans on the soda lake, and watch lions stalking wildebeest on the open grasslands. In the late afternoon, ascend the crater wall and drive back to Arusha, arriving in time for a farewell dinner and reflection on an unforgettable safari.
