Arrival Date

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be greeted by your guide and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha or Moshi. Take the rest of the day to relax, settle in, and prepare for your upcoming adventure in Tanzania. Your journey into the heart of this incredible destination is about to begin!

5 Days Tanzania Luxury Safari
Day 1: Machame Gate (1800m) to Machame Camp (2735m)

After breakfast, you’ll be picked up from your hotel around 8:00 am and driven to Machame Gate. Along the way, you’ll pass coffee and banana plantations, cultivated by the Chagga people. Upon arrival at Machame Gate, Wild Rhythm Adventures will take care of all the pre-hike paperwork. The hike starts in the tropical rainforest, with a picnic lunch on the way. Keep an eye out for blue monkeys in the trees. By the end of the day, you’ll reach Machame Camp (2835 m), where you’ll spend your first night.

Day 2: Machame Camp (2,835m) to Shira Camp (3,750m)
Start your day early with your first view of the mountain. After breakfast, you’ll begin hiking around 8:00 am. The trail will take you up through the forest and into the moorland zone. After a short lunch and break, you’ll continue on a rocky path up to the Shira Plateau, where you’ll get a beautiful view of the western breach and its glacier. You’ll spend the night at Shira Cave Camp (3750 m).

Day 3: Shira Camp (2735m) to Barranco Camp (3900m)
To help with acclimatization, you’ll hike to a higher altitude and then descend to camp for the night. The route takes you into the alpine desert, up to Lava Tower (4600 m), and then down to Barranco Camp (3900 m). The descent offers amazing photo opportunities of the Western Breach and Barranco Wall. The campsite is located in a valley below Barranco Wall, perfect for watching a beautiful sunset before dinner.

Umbwe route
Day 4: Barranco Camp (3900m) to Barafu Camp (4673m)

Today’s hike starts with climbing the Barranco Wall. It’s not technical, but it’s a long and tiring ascent. Afterward, you’ll have lunch at Karanga Camp, the last place to get water before the summit. Then, you’ll continue through the alpine desert to Barafu Camp (4640 m), where you’ll spend the night.

Day 5: Barafu Camp (4673m) to Millennium Camp (3950 m)

You’ll begin the final ascent at midnight with a light breakfast. The 4-5 hour climb to Stella Point (5756 m) offers breathtaking views as the sun rises. From there, it’s a 1-hour trek to Uhuru Peak (5895 m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating your achievement at the summit, you’ll descend to Barafu Camp for lunch and a short rest. Then, you’ll continue down to Millennium Camp (3950 m) for the night.

Day 6: Millennium Camp (3950 m) to Mweka Gate (1640m)

After breakfast, you’ll begin the final descent from Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate. Once you arrive, you’ll receive your certificates and enjoy a refreshing cold drink. A private car will take you back to your hotel for a well-deserved hot shower and celebration of your Kilimanjaro achievement.

Day 7: Tarangire National Park

Start your safari early in the morning from hotel, heading towards Tarangire National Park. Once you arrive, begin a game drive through the park, famous for its large herds of elephants and unique baobab trees. You’ll have the chance to see a variety of wildlife, including lions, giraffes, zebras, and many bird species. Stop for a picnic lunch at a scenic spot within the park. In the afternoon, continue exploring different areas of the park. As the sun sets, head to a nearby Motto Cottages lodge or tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay, enjoying the true safari experience.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast, head to Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Once you arrive, descend to the crater floor for a half-day game drive, where you may spot the Big Five—lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards, and rhinos—along with many other animals. The crater’s unique environment and stunning views create the perfect setting for wildlife watching. Enjoy a picnic lunch near the hippo pool, where you can observe these giant creatures up close. In the afternoon, leave the crater and start your journey back to Moshi, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening to wrap up your unforgettable 2-day safari.
