Day 1

Arusha to Central Serengeti by Plane

After an early breakfast, transfer to Arusha Airport for a scenic bush flight to the Central Serengeti. The aerial views of the Rift Valley escarpment and the Serengeti plains are breathtaking, offering a bird's-eye perspective of the vast landscape below. On arrival at Seronera airstrip, you are met by your private guide and transferred to your luxury lodge perched on a kopje overlooking the savannah. After settling in and enjoying lunch, head out for your first afternoon game drive in the heart of the Serengeti. The Seronera Valley is renowned for its high density of big cats, and you may spot lions, leopards, and cheetahs within the first hour. Return to the lodge for sundowner cocktails on the terrace and a gourmet dinner under the stars.

Day 2

Full Day Serengeti Game Viewing

Spend a full day exploring the Serengeti's diverse ecosystems with morning and afternoon game drives. The morning drive focuses on the Seronera Valley, where riverine forests and granite kopjes provide ideal habitat for leopards and lions. Stop for a bush breakfast in the shade of an acacia tree, surrounded by the sounds of the African bush. After a midday rest at the lodge, head out again for an afternoon drive across the open plains where vast herds of wildebeest and zebra graze under the watchful eyes of hyenas. An optional balloon safari at dawn offers a once-in-a-lifetime perspective of the Serengeti from above. Enjoy a private dinner on your lodge's terrace, with the Milky Way blazing overhead.

Day 3

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Enjoy a final morning game drive in the Serengeti, perhaps tracking a lion pride or searching for elephants at a favourite waterhole. Return to the lodge for a leisurely brunch and check out before your scenic flight to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The short flight offers spectacular aerial views of the crater rim from above. On arrival, transfer to your luxury lodge perched on the edge of the crater, where the views are simply awe-inspiring. Take a guided nature walk along the rim with your lodge's resident naturalist, learning about the geological history of this ancient volcanic wonder. Enjoy a fireside dinner with panoramic views into the crater below.

Day 4

Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive

Descend 600 metres into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day Big Five game drive in the world's largest intact volcanic caldera. The crater floor covers 260 square kilometres and supports over 25,000 animals in a concentrated Eden. Your expert guide navigates the grasslands and soda lakes, tracking endangered black rhinos, giant tusker elephants, and enormous buffalo herds. Stop at the Hippo Pool for a gourmet picnic lunch while hippos surface and dive just metres from your vehicle. Watch flamingos paint the soda lake pink and scan the crater walls for golden eagles and Verreaux's eagles. Ascend in the late afternoon and return to the lodge for a celebratory dinner and reminiscing about the day's extraordinary sightings.

Day 5

Ngorongoro to Arusha via Manyara

After a relaxed breakfast with views over the crater, descend once more for a short morning game drive along the crater floor, catching the early morning light and predator activity. Return to the lodge for brunch before transferring to Lake Manyara airstrip for your flight back to Arusha. Alternatively, drive via the Lake Manyara National Park gates for a brief game drive among the groundwater forests, spotting blue monkeys, bushbuck, and the park's famous tree-climbing lions. Arrive in Arusha in the afternoon with time for some souvenir shopping or a relaxing massage at your hotel. Your safari concludes with a farewell dinner at one of Arusha's finest restaurants, celebrating five days of extraordinary wildlife encounters.

Visa & Entry

Most nationalities need a Tanzanian tourist visa (USD 50, or USD 100 for US passports). You can apply online or get a visa on arrival at JRO. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months.

Comprehensive travel insurance is required. Must cover medical expenses, emergency evacuation, trip cancellation, and safari activities. AMREF Flying Doctors air evacuation is included in all our safari packages.

Health & Vaccinations

Yellow Fever Certificate required only if arriving from affected countries. Anti-malaria medication recommended. Visit a travel clinic 6–8 weeks before departure.

A 30% deposit confirms your reservation. Balance due 45 days before arrival. Bank transfers and credit/debit cards accepted (3% fee). Free date changes up to 30 days before departure.

Tipping Guidelines

Tipping is a tradition in Tanzania. Recommended: USD 40–50 per guest, per day for your safari guide and lodge/camp staff on luxury safaris. Detailed tipping guide included in pre-departure info.

Internal Flights & Luggage

For fly-in safaris, return flights between Arusha and Serengeti included. Max luggage: 15 kg per person. Soft-sided bags required for light aircraft. Hard-shell suitcases not accepted.
