Moshi – Marangu Gate (1,870 m) – Mandara Hut (2,700 m)

After breakfast, you'll drive to the Marangu Gate where your trek begins. You'll pass through lush tropical rainforest, with chances to spot wildlife such as monkeys and colorful birds. The path is well-maintained, and the climb is gradual, giving you an opportunity to acclimatize. Mandara Hut, where you'll spend the night, offers great views and basic facilities, including sleeping huts with beds and a dining area.

Today's hike takes you above the tree line, through alpine meadows, and into the moorland zone. You'll encounter beautiful views of the mountain and surrounding areas. As you reach Horombo Hut, the higher altitude and cooler temperatures become more apparent. Horombo is a larger hut with a great view of both Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Mawenzi, providing a good spot for resting and acclimatizing.

Day 4

Acclimatization at Horombo Hut to Zebra Rocks (3,720 m – 4,200 m)

You'll spend the day at Horombo Hut, which is situated at 3,720 meters (12,205 feet). This is a crucial acclimatization day, giving your body time to adjust to the higher altitude before the next leg of your climb. An important part of this day is the acclimatization hike to Zebra Rocks, located at approximately 4,200 meters (13,780 feet). This hike allows you to climb higher during the day and then descend back to Horombo Hut to sleep, which is a key technique for acclimatizing safely.

The hike to Kibo is long and sometimes challenging, but it's a steady ascent. Kibo Hut is the base for the final summit push. After arrival, take time to rest and hydrate in preparation for the summit.

The first part of the climb is steep and difficult, but you'll be rewarded with stunning views as you ascend through the night. You'll pass Gilman's Point at around 5,681 meters, and from there, it's a final push to the summit. Once you reach Uhuru Peak, you'll have time to celebrate and take photos before beginning the descent. The descent is quicker but still requires focus, as you make your way back to Horombo Hut for rest.

Afterward, you'll be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi for a well-deserved rest and celebration.
