Explore Arusha National Park
Arusha National Park is a compact yet remarkably diverse gem nestled at the foot of Mount Meru, offering an incredible variety of landscapes and wildlife within its relatively small 552 km² boundaries. Despite being one of Tanzania smallest national parks, it packs an impressive punch with lush montane forests, alkaline lakes dotted with flamingos, the stunning Momella Lakes, and breathtaking views of both Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro.
The park is home to the beautiful Momella Lakes, a group of seven alkaline lakes that shimmer in shades of green, blue, and white. During the wet season, thousands of flamingos feed on the lakes, creating a stunning pink carpet against the backdrop of Mount Meru. The lakes are also home to hippos, waterbucks, and numerous bird species.
One of the park most unique features is the Ngurdoto Crater, a volcanic crater often called "Little Ngorongoro." This 400-meter wide, 100-meter deep crater is surrounded by dense forest and serves as a natural enclosure for buffalo, monkeys, and various bird species. The crater floor is a swamphy breeding ground, and viewing it from the rim provides a spectacular panoramic vista.
