Mount Meru 3-Day Climb

After breakfast, drive from Arusha to Arusha National Park for registration and preparation for your climb. Meet your mountain guide, armed ranger, and porters before beginning the trek at Momella Gate. The adventure starts with a scenic walk through the beautiful montane forest. Along the way, you may encounter wildlife including giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, and black-and-white colobus monkeys. Enjoy the beautiful forest scenery as you gradually ascend towards Miriakamba Hut. Upon arrival, settle into your accommodation and enjoy dinner before resting for the night.

After breakfast, continue your climb towards Saddle Hut through beautiful forest landscapes and open heathland. The trail becomes steeper as you gain altitude, offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the Meru crater. Along the way, you will encounter unique alpine vegetation, including giant heathers and distinctive giant lobelias. Arrive at Saddle Hut in the afternoon and enjoy lunch. Depending on your energy levels and weather conditions, you may take an optional acclimatization walk towards Little Meru (3,820 m) with your guide. Return to Saddle Hut for dinner and an early rest in preparation for the summit attempt shortly after midnight.

Wake up around midnight and prepare for the final ascent to Socialist Peak (4,566 m). After a light snack and hot drink, begin climbing under the guidance of your experienced mountain team. The trail follows a steep ridge towards the summit, passing through spectacular volcanic landscapes. Reach Socialist Peak around sunrise, weather and trail conditions permitting, and enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Meru crater, and the surrounding landscapes. After celebrating your summit achievement and taking photographs, begin the descent towards Saddle Hut. Continue descending through Miriakamba Hut and the beautiful forest trails towards Momella Gate, where your vehicle will be waiting for the transfer back to Arusha. Arrive in Arusha in the late afternoon, marking the end of your Mount Meru climbing adventure.
